Got a lot of things going on at once around here, and the latest posts really just kind of scratch the surface of what's happening.
I'm currently in the process of complete overhaul of my print portfolio and demo reel, so there has been tons of modeling, texturing, lighting, rendering, compositing, and you name it going on. I've pretty much settled on an asset list and a list of the shots that will appear. The process now involves completing the modeling and texturing of additionally required items, setting up and lighting camera shots, and rendering things.
The base renders are being done at 1920x1080, which is full 1080p resolution. From those base renders I will derive 720p and 480p versions, as well as individual shots for the print version. There will also be renders that are unique to each the demo reel and the print portfolio.
Included in all of this is rendering for anaglyph 3d viewing, so that's creating quite a learning curve for setting up and lighting shots. While it's not impossible to compose a shot for 2d, then add a camera and end up with a good 3d composition, it certainly isn't plausible. A number of significant factors need to be taken into consideration, and the shots need to be composed and lit for both the left and right cameras, and focal lengths/camera target distances are vital.
When all is said and done, there will be a new hard copy and PDF print portfolio, in both 2d and 3d, and a new demo reel in both DVD/BluRay formats with menu structure as well as a menu-less online version, available in 1080p, 720p, and 480p, both in 2d and 3d.
Stay tuned for more. I know I promised a 2d version of the last video posted, and I have a few other things to upload as well. Rendering has really been crunching on my CPU and slowing things down a lot, even with the renders spread across 3 computers.
