My starship (there were 12 of them -- insert name here) needed something to beat up on, and I had an old Romulan Bird of Prey model hanging around from at least 2008, so I decided to texture it up and rig it with lights. I estimate the starship gained about a third to half more polygons in the process of refining the mesh and cutting the windows in... the poor Romulan more than doubled in poly count. It was a very healthy 5000 polys to begin with, it's over 12k now. Ouch.
All the more to explode it with later though....
