Early Update 6-4-09

Why sleep when you can be modeling?

Added a couple items this morning. Normally I would keep a notepad open with a running tab of the changes throughout the day, but the day's work is going to be split among probably 3 or 4 different machines in 2 or 3 different locations, so I figure it's best to break it down as I go.

So far:

  • Hotel/Saloon: Added spittoons and a couple bar stools
  • General: Added telegraph lines between the poles
  • General: Duplicated more hitching rails throughout the commercial districts of town.

Edit, after the fact:

Looking over the town now, and it seems like it could really use a landmark structure representing a town hall, somewhere in the block of buildings representing the civic district. Probably in the place of the generic storefront between the jail and the post office (both of which are unique landmarks, and are adjacent to the courthouse, the biggest weenie in the bunch). Best bet would be to shuffle the jail over one spot and put the town hall in its place.

Would that the Delorean time machine in the scene really worked. I'm adding this to the list of things that would be neat to do if I have time. There are over 400 individual objects in the scene (among more than 90 total structures), and I estimate I probably have another 25-50 new objects to complete in the next week and a half to really flesh things out. Still very much on schedule, but that's never been a good excuse to not add cool new things. After all, who needs to sleep?
