Breaking Down Additional Structures

I've begun breaking down which additional structures will be needed to flesh out the Old West Town as an MMO hub city, and will have a finalized asset list this weekend.

The town already has:

  • Saloon
  • Livery
  • Courthouse
  • Sheriff's Office
  • General Store
  • 9 "Generic" storefronts

Taking into account the typical amenities offered by a major MMO hub city, I come up with the following list:

  • Train Station (mass transit)
  • Post Office (in-game mail)
  • Doctor's Office (wound healing)
  • Auction House (player to player trading)
  • Gun Shop (weapons and ammo)
  • Cabins/Houses (player housing)

Additionally, a couple major related props immediately come to mind that are missing from the original build:

  • Stagecoach (perhaps a "commercial" Wells-Fargo style coach, and a personal travel coach)
  • Steam Engine

This gives me roughly 8 models to complete in the 9 weeks remaining for the project, in addition to any miscellaneous props such as hitching rails, barrels, rifles, etc. As far as major additions go, this should do it for the list. From here I'll begin breaking things down into milestones and plan out time allotments for research and design, building the actual assets, and hopefully exporting everything to a game engine (which I've yet to determine between TGE/TGEA or Unreal 3). The latter part is a decision I'll make over the coming week as to whether that's going to be an official goal of the project.

Be back with more shortly!
