Welcome to the blog portion of the NFXstudios3D website.
A quick introduction:
I am a 3d modeler, graduating June 2009 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Video Game Production. I specialize in environmental modeling and low poly, game-ready modeling, but also have experience modeling props, vehicles, weapons, and characters across a wide range of genres and styles.
My software proficiencies are in 3ds Max (versions 7 through 2009), Photoshop (7 through CS4), Zbrush 3.1, and several game engines, including Torque Game Engine (specifically in DTS exporting), Unreal 2 and 3, Aurora, Electron, Infinity, and some experience with the Multiverse authoring tools.
One skill I feel is especially beneficial is my ability to conceive, concept, build, unwrap, texture, and export quality 3d, game-ready models, in a very quick and efficient manner without sacrificing quality. For a recent student project, I successfully designed a suburban home level, created more than 90 individual art assets (65+ entirely for this project, another 25+ modified from assets I created for previous projects) and imported them into the Torque Game Engine with full collision in roughly 4 weeks.
Additionally, I have worked in the past as a fiction writer, in novel, short story, and screenplay format, and have operated a successful business creating custom Halloween masks. In that capacity I sculpted characters using various different clays (plastilinas, WED, standard water based clays), built master and production molds, cast the finished pieces, and painted and applied hair where applicable.
Other major interests of mine are in Philosophy, Sociology, and History, and I am considering returning to school upon the completion of my Bachelor degree to seek a graduate degree in one of these fields.
I consider my communication skills, both verbal and written, to be another asset, and enjoy teaching my skills to others as well as working in teams where individuals can collaborate to help each produce work greater than he could on his own.
I am hoping to have the completed website up and running by the end of this week, with a gallery showing both my 3d and phsycial sculpture work, as well as samples of my writing. Until the links become active on the website, I can be reached at j.zyla@nfxstudios3d.com for any inquiries or comments.
Thanks for reading, and I'll be back with more information as it becomes available!
