This being what it is, from here out I will post a breakdown daily of what work has been accomplished, and put up the relevant screenshots by Sunday of that week.
Work done today:
- Relocated the Courthouse, flagpole, and gallows about 100 yards beyond the end of the last block of commercial and civic buildings at the suggestion of Professor Jim. This helps isolate the major landmark and make it more visible throughout the town, while allowing more room for foot traffic around the Courthouse, as well as possible later expansion in that area.
- Refined the Livery interior with a ladder to the loft, and beams holding up the ceiling. This turned out to be pretty complicated, but was a lot of fun to design and implement, without adding a lot of polys to the structure. I think a lot of value was added to the location for a relatively small number of polygons.
- Imported a Union Cavalry Sword asset modeled a few weeks back, and placed it in the Dog's Head Saloon as a decoration.
- Created a "shanty town" of tents set up in a roughly circular camp just past the edge of town along the main road, with a new camp fire asset, as well as a log pile modified from the corral fencing posts, and a new coffee pot model. Also modified the bar stools from the Dog's Head Saloon into shorter stools to place around the campfire. This is an area of town where new would-be settlers would set up home while in the process of acquiring permanent residence.
- Relocated the Schoolhouse across the street from the Church from where I'd placed it next door. As the landmarks on that side of town, I feel placing them offset across from each other helped balance the overall design on that side by evening up the "weight" on each side of the road.
Will be back with more updates tomorrow, and screenshots by Sunday!
